FBI Special Agent Mark Pierce looked up as the boss walked in.

“Pierce, meet your new partner.  Dixie, meet Mark Pierce.”

Mark gazed into those intelligent eyes and admired the trim, toned body.

“Mark, she’s smart, strong, and loyal.  She’ll be with you 24/7.  I know the two of you will solve the Serial Swamp Murders.  This killer’s left bodies in Okefenokee, Tate’s Hell, the Everglades and now Panther Swamp.”

“Does she eat much?” Pierce asked.

“Who cares?  There’s a four-wheel drive in the car pool.  Florida Fish and Wildlife will meet you at the last crime scene.  Now go!”

  1. Sherrie says:

Pierce headed out the door with Dixie, a seasoned FBI veteran, beside him. Pierce is Dixie’s first partner since Jeduthan Averett, her permanent partner, was shot. Jed rescued Dixie from a humane shelter four years earlier where she was a picture of neglect. Jed nursed and groomed her incessantly. Within a month she had the body of an athlete and the glossy coat of a championship Shepard. Jed would recover; he was shot while hunting the Swamp Murderer in the Everglades. Dixie balked at leaving his bedside but he insisted since she was the only one that could recognize the shooter.

  2. chris says:

Mark and Dixie left the FBI office with a sense of foreboding and excitement. Mark inquires, “So whats a pretty lady like you doing working for the Feds?” Dixie looked up into Marks eyes and seemed to communicate the following thought: “Lets get something straight, I’m not here to feed your ego. I’m here to put an end to this bullshit once and for all!” Then she turned, barked, and headed into Panther Swamp.
